Joan Wadleigh Curran (b. 1950)
Joan Wadleigh Curran, a Philadelphia-based painter, was born in 1950. Her paintings depict the often entangled interactions between humans and nature, such as a chain-link fence enmeshed in the trunk of a growing tree.
Curran earned her M.F.A. degree from Yale University in 1974, and from 1974 until 1977 she taught at LaGrange College in Troup County. She has had numerous solo exhibitions around the United States, including at the Lamar Dodd Art Center in LaGrange, Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, and West Georgia College (later University of West Georgia) in Carrollton. Her works are part of several collections, including those of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Columbus Museum in Columbus, and the Lamar Dodd Art Center.
Curran has one untitled drawing in Georgia's State Art Collection.
